PyroGenesis To Ship First of Ten Metal 3D Printing Production Systems

PyroGenesis Canada Inc. , a TSX Venture 50 clean-tech company that designs, develops, manufactures and commercializes plasma waste-to-energy systems and plasma torch products, recently announced that they are shipping the first of ten 3D printing powder production systems to a major international manufacturer in Asia. Last year they signed a $12 .5MM contract with an unidentified customer for a total of 10 plasma based 3D printing powder production platforms to be delivered over the course of 2015-2016.

Peter Pascali, president and chief executive officer of PyroGenesis Canada Inc. said of the deal, “Under this contract, 9 of the 10 systems are to be built once the first system is fully installed and commissioned in Asia. With the first system being shipped, and installation and commissioning scheduled for this summer, we plan to start manufacturing the last nine systems in the fall of 2015.”

PyroGenesis is known for its proven innovative materials that produce uniform, spherical and small metal powders ideal for use in additive manufacturing. PyroGenesis is currently awaiting a patent for their unique metal powder production platforms, like the ones they are producing under their $12.5MM contract. They hope that their successful fulfillment of their contract will continue to peak the interest of other manufacturers.

Pascali adds, “We continue to experience significant interest in our 3D powder printing capabilities, and we have recently decided to offer these powders on a take-or-pay basis to several key customers.”
