(Investors Business Daily) — The oil and gas industry could be the latest field to embrace 3D printing to make custom parts and prototypes. General Electric Oil & Gas already has plans to use 3D printing for its NovaL T16 natural gas turbines.
The industrial giant already uses the technology to make similar nozzles for its jet engines. The oil and gas industry can use both models for building equipment such as customized products, replacement parts for older machinery, and quick prototypes. Larger equipment would still have to be cast in metal for the near term.
