The latest company to take advantage of wood 3D printing is Kabuku Inc., the Japanese company behind the sleek Rinkak 3D printing marketplace. However, Rinkak won’t be selling wood filament, as sold for desktop FDM/FFF 3D printers. Instead, as a 3D printing marketplace, the site allows customers to purchase items laser sintered in its Woodlike material.

3D printing with wood offers the warm texture associated with the natural material, but with design complexity not possible with traditional woodworking techniques. As you can see from the gorgeous 3D prints available for purchase at Rinkak, laser sintered wood yields more a refined look than objects 3D printed from wood filament of the type invented by Kai Parthy.

Rinkak is also taking advantage of wood procured as the result of ecological thinning, so that only forests that need to be reduced are tapped for the product. The complete design details for Woodlike are available here and, coinciding with the launch of its new material, Rinkak is offering 20% off on its Woodlike products currently available.
