Japanese startup Bonsai Lab released its ultra-compact Bonsai Mini 3D printer BS01 today.

The BS01 was launched on Japanese crowdfunding site "kibidango" in December 2013 and raised about JP¥10,500,000 ($101,000) funding in 3 weeks, more than five times of its JP¥2,000,000 funding goal.

With a build volume of W150 x H100 x L130mm, you'll get a good build size for printing out small parts and toys. It is optimized for speed with a light print head, and produces a default 100-micron layer resolution in 3D prints.

The BS01 features MDF (medium density fibreboard) frame with a smooth sanded finish. MDF is made out of wood waste fibres and is eco-friendly. It was then painted using a water-based environmentally friendly material.
